This is the second part of our Essential Competencies blog post. If you haven’t seen the first post on this topic, you can read it.
It can be difficult for prospective customers to find a managed service provider (MSP) to help maximize a company’s investment in the cloud, but AWS competencies are one way to make that decision easier. At REAN Cloud, we maintain a large and growing roster of AWS Competencies and want to share our expertise on one of the most important aspects of being an APN Partner.
Here are the final five AWS Competencies we think are important for APN Partners to achieve:
Cloud storage enables the traveling workforces of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to work on mobile devices like tablets and allows organizations in this sector to implement new platforms faster, and store large data sets with ease. For customers in this sector, the sensitive nature of the data produced, as well as the need for minimal downtime, means it’s imperative the cloud provider can meet health regulation compliance and standards like HIPAA and HiTRUST. APN Partners with AWS Life Sciences Competency status must demonstrate that they’ve provided the technology and/or services involved in helping organizations within the industry conduct drug discovery, research and develop novel genetic-based treatments, manage clinical trials or engage in biopharma manufacturing and distribution activities.
Organizations of all sizes are turning to cloud providers to help with issues around data storage problems in application development, backup and recovery, tape replacement, archive and compliance requirements, and more. AWS Partners who earn the AWS Storage competency have effectively created seamless storage solutions across their customers’ cloud and on-premises environments, as well as demonstrated success in helping customers evaluate and use the techniques and technologies of effectively storing data in the AWS Cloud.
Financial services organizations present a specific set of challenges and when it comes to cloud storage. For banks, insurance and mortgage companies, it’s imperative that their cloud provider can adapt to industry regulations and meet compliance, like PCI, where necessary. To earn the AWS Financial Services competency, APN Partners must demonstrate industry expertise, readily implemented solutions that align with AWS architectural best practices, and have staff with AWS certifications.
Cloud computing has proven to be an optimal storage solution for education centers, and it’s no surprise that they are some of the fastest adopters of the Cloud. Developing the right solution to ensure academic and business tasks are streamlined is something that customers in higher education are seeking out amongst potential providers. APN Partners who demonstrate industry expertise and proven success deploying AWS architectural best practices-aligned solutions for teaching and learning, administration, and academic research efforts in education, can achieve AWS Education Competency status.
The public sector and government agencies are increasingly turning to the Cloud to improve business flexibility and consolidate massive data centers at more sustainable costs. Customers in this sector require agile and innovative cloud deployments that can support mission-critical operations while incorporating often sensitive analytics systems and meeting compliance like FedRAMP. APN partners who have AWS Government Competency must provide solutions to, or have extensive experience working with, relevant customers to deliver mission-critical workloads and applications on AWS, and provide proof of success in implementing solutions that ensure the highest level of security and compliance for federal, state and local governments.
