Citrus Pay needed a collaboration partner to help analyze their cloud business, identify problems, propose plans to improve their operational performance, and rapidly implement working solutions. Because Citrus Pay operates in the financial services vertical market, performance failure results in lost revenue. After thorough research, Citrus Pay selected REAN Cloud (“REAN”) to help address the mission critical issues they were facing. REAN, which is accredited with AWS Financial Services Competency, proposed Citrus Pay to use AWS cloud for dynamically creating performance labs using REAN Test. After significant vetting, REAN was selected to help put Citrus Pay on the path to achieving their objectives.
Challenges Citrus Pay Faced
To best serve its customers, Citrus Pay had an objective for success-rate-optimization which they implement periodically to improve their business efficiencies. Despite regular and consistent process improvement practices, the success rate was still below the high standards the business was striving for. Because Citrus Pay was unable to achieve exceptional performance levels, they experienced mild customer dissatisfaction. In the financial services business, this can quickly result in lost revenues. Additionally, Citrus Pay needed to simplify their business logic. A thorough analysis was required for their desktop and mobile platforms, as well as the data being processed by their payment gateways.
The Citrus Pay environment experienced millions of users making bill payments via the company’s Payment Gateway. Users went through the billing portal successfully but when routed to the payment gateway, at times, they were unable to process the payments which led to several transaction failures.
The losses in transactions were having a significant financial impact on the company’s bottom line. They were not only losing real revenue but it was also negatively impacting their loyal customer base. They were unable to identify the root cause of the problem and were looking for a prompt solution. Due to these business problems, Citrus approached REAN Cloud for help.
The REAN Cloud Solution
REAN Cloud, an AWS Premier Consulting Partner with AWS Financial Services Competency and AWS DevOps Competency, was the perfect partner to help fix and improve the business problems Citrus Pay was experiencing.
Due to REAN Cloud’s vast experience in the Financial Services vertical, the team got right to work. First, the engineers used REAN Test to perform a simple URL test of their application. All browser versions (latest & old) were selected and submitted for the test. Surprisingly, by using REAN Test, it was discovered that there was a new Chrome browser version that had simultaneously been released and the testing team was unaware of this. The testing team had incidentally not tested all Chrome browser releases and were unaware of its new and more complex security aspects. Using REAN Cloud’s diagnostic tools helped quickly identify the problem, saving time and money. Additionally, REAN Cloud also found that the PAY button was not visible because of the latest security enhancements made in Chrome which lead to the incomplete transactions and failures.
Using REAN Test for DevOps – within a few hours we were able to create a dynamic test infrastructure with all versions of browsers installed and ran a simple URL test, analysed the results quickly which lead us to identify the root cause of the client’s problem.
The engineering team monitored the user experience by spinning up 100s of automated users for browser based testing in an agile deployment infrastructure. Monitoring systems were put in place to receive continuous performance feedback. Any change in business performance was immediately identified. Thorough analysis of the code and business logic was carried out automatically and then subsequently by on-site developers. Static code analysis tools were deployed as necessary and where required. Load infrastructure and mock banks were setup to detect server spikes.
This resulted in:
- The client understanding the data they were collecting and immediately detecting issues and loopholes.
- An immediate increase in the success rate by fixing all the glaring problems across various tiers of their application.
- Eventual reduction in forward failure rates.
